UTME: 62,140 Candidates Set To Re-write JAMB On 1st Of July

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) yesterday said that 62,140 candidates, who had issues with late registration, biometric non-verification and cancellation of results would have to rewrite the examination.

The board said the rescheduled examination would hold on 1st of July 2017 across the candidates’ centres.

JAMB Registrar Is-haq Oloyede spoke yesterday after a meeting of the board’s management with chief external examiners and other major stakeholders on the conduct of 2017 UTME, at its headquarters, Bwari, Abuja.

Oloyede said the meeting candidates approved the cancellation of the results of 1,386 candidates for examination
He added that these candidates would not be allowed to rewrite the examination.

The JAMB registrar said: “The meeting approved the cancellation of the results of 1,386 individual candidates found culpable of examination malpractice. The cancellation of results of 57,646 in centres-induced malpractice. The cancellation of the two results of the 666 candidates engaged in multiple examinations.

“The meeting also agreed on the rescheduling of examination for candidates of centres with mass malpractice, but who are deemed innocent, biometric non-verification machine related issues, late registration, four lost sessions in three centres due to malfunctioning of three servers at the centre and incomplete results.”

According to him, the meeting also approved the delisting of 48 computer based test centres from participating in JAMB examination because of various infractions.

The 62,140 cancelled results include 57,646 candidates in centres-induced malpractice, 3,811 late registration, and 683 candidates who had biometric challenges.

“The meeting approved the suspension of 24 computer based test centres for one year due to technical issues. These centres would not participate in the 2018 unified tertiary matriculation examination but they can be reconsidered for 2019 and above.

The delisting of 48 centres from participating in the board’s examination in future as a result of serious technical deficiencies, extortion, organised examination malpractices and other damaging infractions,” he added.
Students’ Protest In University Of Ibadan

Students’ Protest In University Of Ibadan

At every graduation ceremony, particularly before students receive scroll of honour and are pronounced “graduates”, the Registrar will invoke what could be regarded as academic ethos, saying “the persons standing have been found worthy both in character and in learning to be admitted to the degree of …” From this phrase, character and learning are the two major constituents of a degree a graduate parades as a symbol of academic training. Interestingly, one of the mission statements of University of Ibadan is to produce graduates who are worthy in character and learning.

But, what is character? An online dictionary describes it as “the inherent complex of attributes that determines a person’s moral and ethical actions and reactions. Indeed, education has for its object, the formation of character. The synonyms of character include attitude, nature, attributes, disposition, reputation, among others. To underscore the importance of character, an American author, John Maxwell says attitude is the librarian of our past, the speaker of our present and the prophet of our future.” In other words, bad character can only lead to a dwarfed destiny, just as someone argues that a bad character is like a flat tyre, you can’t go far unless you change it.

It is against this backdrop one is compelled to examine the recent students’ protest at the University of Ibadan (UI) and some of its emerging sociological phenomenal. The protest,  under the aegis of Students’ Union began two days before commencement of planned first semester examination. The union, led by a 200-level student, Ojo Aderemi had issued a six-point demand at a “congress”, which management describes as illegal. Some of the demands of the students included a two-day ultimatum given to the university management  to constitute the students’ welfare board.

We love when our very own succeeds and excels. The beauty about success stories is that it inspires us to do better and be better. Some stories are inspiring and Adebola’s success story is one of them.

Read and be motivated;

My name is Dr. Adeola D. Olubamiji and I’m the first black person to have received a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada (5th of June, 2017). My Bachelors degree was in Physics from OOU. Because I had a 2.1, it opened the door for me to proceed to Finland for a Masters Degree in Biomedical Engineering. During this masters degree, I worked part-time as a cleaner and did this after my Masters as well. Out of determination, I applied to over 100 schools for my PhD and finally got a full 3 year scholarship (later extended to 4 years scholarship) at University of Saskatchewan, Canada  to pursue a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. While in that PhD program, I worked part-time as a makeup artist and seller at Sephora Canada, I braided hair and weaves for students, did tutoring jobs and teaching assistant jobs to make extra money. This journey wasn’t easy but it’s now paying off. I currently work as a Lead Metallurgical / Material Engineer in an Aerospace Manufacturing Company here in Canada.
OAU DSA Suspends All Religious Activities In Halls Of Residence

OAU DSA Suspends All Religious Activities In Halls Of Residence

The Obafemi Awolowo University Department of Student Affairs (OAU DSA) today 4th of June 2017 made a special release stating that all religious activities should be suspended in the halls of residence.
The release also commanded all students to either pray in their rooms or go to the religious ground.

The "Special Release" which was all in upper case read thus:

"This is to bring to the attention of all students that all religious activities is hereby suspended in halls of residence until further notice.

Any student that fails to comply will face immediate disciplinary action which may include revocation of studentship and expulsion.
Students are advised to pray in their individual rooms or move to the religious centre"

The DSA has wasted no time in executing this new order. There are reports that some members of the DSA and school security went to the two major hall mosques (Awolowo hall mosque and Fajuyi hall mosque) and destroyed all the temporary structures in it after sending the Students out of them.

The religious centre is fifteen to twenty minutes walk from the 'Awo' hall which is the most populated hall of residence on campus. Taking such a walk five times daily might be more of difficulty than ease for most Muslim students and many Muslim students have seen it as an attempt to stop them from observing their daily prayers.

However, there have been no reports of similar demolitions in any of the several 'hall' secretariats allocated the Christian fellowships.

It should be remembered that G.O Akinola, the Dean of the DSA has not been the best friend of the Muslim students since her arrival in office.
She once called the hall mosques a brothel.Could this be a 'diplomatic' step she is taking to eliminate those "brothels" from the school.

There have been claims and accusations of a 'christianization' agenda going on in the school, with the faculty of pharmacy not having any Muslim lecturer and many departments having just one or two Muslim lecturers.
Ayodele Awojobi: Nigeria's Albert Einstein

Ayodele Awojobi: Nigeria's Albert Einstein

Born in Oshodi, Lagos State, Awojobi's father, Chief Daniel Adekoya Awojobi, was a stationmaster at the Nigerian Railway Corporation who hailed from Ikorodu in Lagos State. His mother, Comfort Bamidele Awojobi (née Adetunji), was a petty trader who hailed from Modakeke, Ile-Ife, Osun State. Between 1942 and 1947, he attended St. Peter's Primary School, Faji, Lagos.

It was while at his secondary school, the CMS Grammar School, Lagos, that his academic traits began to manifest. Not only was he seen to be gifted in mathematics and the sciences, he was comfortable also in the arts, becoming a member of the school's literary and debating society. It was during this period that he earned the nickname, "Macbeth": William Shakespeare's famous play, Macbeth, was to be staged in the school. The lead actor took ill a week before, and so Ayodele was called upon to play the lead role in his stead. It is said that not only did Ayodele master his lines as lead actor, but also the entire play, such that he was able to prompt the cast whenever they forgot their lines.

Ayodele was a straight-A's secondary school student, while at the CMS Grammar school, passing his West African School Certificate examinations with a record eight distinctions in 1955. He proceeded to the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology, Ibadan, for his General Certificate of Examinations, GCE (Advanced Level), where in 1958 he sat for, and obtained distinctions in all his papers: Physics, Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. In 1962 Awojobi was awarded his first degree in Mechanical Engineering – a BSc (Eng) London, with first class honours, at the then Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology, Zaria (now Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria).

It was said by Akintola Ajai (himself an engineering graduate of the University of London), that when Awojobi arrived at the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology, Zaria, he boasted openly saying that it was his intention to finish the whole course within a period of three years only; an impracticable feat due to the fact that nowhere was the BSc Mechanical Engineering curriculum designed to run less than four years. Ayodele accomplished it in three years just as he had predicted.

The federal government awarded Awojobi another scholarship in 1962 to study further at the post-graduate level in the field of Mechanical Engineering at the Imperial College of the University of London (now Imperial College London). He completed the course, successfully defending his thesis, and was awarded a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1966.
You Won't Believe Some of America's Most Misspelled Words

You Won't Believe Some of America's Most Misspelled Words

In honor of the 90th Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee this week, Google Trends released a map showcasing the most commonly misspelled words across America, and let's just say #SMH...

The map is based on data collected from January through April of this year, and it reveals that "beautiful" is one of the most commonly mistaken words across states like California, New York, Ohio and Minnesota.

But while that may have you shrugging your shoulders in understanding (we've all spelled out "b-e-a-utiful" in our heads before), there are some questionable words you may not be so OK with.

For example, if you ever visit Wisconsin, you probably don't want to ask anybody there how to spell the state's name. Their most commonly misspelled word is (you guessed it) Wisconsin.

Texans can't seem to grasp "banana," while South Dakota struggles with "college." New Hampshire appears to have a "diarrhea" problem, while Georgia struggles with one of the shortest words on the list: "gray."

Some states' misspelled words are at least a little more understandable.
Indiana and Delaware have a hard time with "hallelujah," and Connecticut and West Virginia can't seem to conquer "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." But who can, really?

Other commonly mistaken words include "tomorrow" and "pneumonia."

Which misspelled words on the map surprised you? Sound off in the comments below!

Female Corper In Kogi Pays School Fees For 30 Students

A serving corps member in Kogi State, Miss Oyebimpe Olofin, has paid the school fees of 30 students and distributed over 180 books, including writing materials to some schools in Lokoja.

The move was part of the activities lined up to mark this year’s Children Day celebration by Olofin under Omoloye Foundation. Olofin, while presenting the cash gifts, school uniforms and writing materials to the underprivileged students, noted that every child is a star with adequate investment.

She said, “It is important that as a good citizen of Nigeria, we should help make the child and their parent’s dream come true by ensuring that they are in school and not on the street.”

“While interacting with these children recently, I realised that some of them want to go to school. Every child is a star in their own way; it all depends on what you invest in them. If you give them something good, they will give something good in return.”
Olofin noted that the gifts would encourage the students to see education as the best way to achieve success in life, while calling on relevant stakeholders to help in the campaign to move children off the streets during school hours.

Meanwhile, the Principal of Muslim Community Secondary School, Lokoja, Yakubu Danladi, while lauding the initiative, said some of problems in the society could be traced to poor investment in education by government.

“Most of the children who are supposed to be in school are not in school because of many factors. Sincerely, if these issues are not nipped in the board, things will get out of hand,” he said.

Corpers Sleep Outside As Lagos NYSC Camp Becomes Overcrowded

Am yet to understand what this scheme contributes to Nigerian youths, because the country is still very much divided than ever before after almost 30 years of the scheme

The NYSC has outlived it's relevance, it's currently one of the many draining pipes used to siphon public funds for some corrupt individuals

It doesn't add any value to our lives, wastes our time and subject youths to different levels of risks and dangers.

It's not surprising that it's only a stupid country like Nigeria with visionless leadership that operates the mandatory NYSC scheme, no wonder we can never develop and will always remain a third world country with the way the country is being run.

Some Corpers were allegedly forced to sleep outside after a Lagos NYSC camp admitted more than its capacity and became overcrowded.

According to a Facebook user, Aniebiet Anie Udo who shared this, soldiers sent the corpers out of the registration hall which made them resort to sleeping on the floor.

Dead Baby Found Inside Female Toilet In UniMaid (Graphic Photos)

It was a shocking and dreadful sight following the discovery of the lifeless body of a newborn baby lying in a toilet at a female hostel of the University of Maiduguri, Borno State in the morning of Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

According to an eyewitness who posted the sordid incident on his Facebook wall, Egwina Supreme Peter, the dead baby was found in a toilet of the Murtala Hostel.

Peter said that the wicked mother had tried to force the baby into the toilet to no avail and she left it there and sneaked away.

Peter who posted the heartbreaking photo of the baby, also put up photos of some wailing women who had retrieved the dead infant from the toilet while others looked on in awe.

This is how Peter described the incident:

"Some ladies are heartless, crazy, stupid. In fact, I don't know any word suitable to describe this lady. Sometimes, I wonder why some girls don't have the fear of God in their lives.

The picture below is a true life story of what just happened at Murtala Female Hostel at the University of Maiduguri today.

A lady gave birth to a female child, killed the child by herself and was coercing the child into the female hostel toilet.

My question is: If this lady was treated in this manner, will she be alive today? Who will marry such a heartless woman as a wife?"

As at the time of writing this, the culprit has yet to be identified while the police say they have been informed of the incident and they will leave no stone unturned to discover the wicked lady who committed such an atrocious act.

Lecturer Impregnates Nursing Student- 'It Wasn’t Me, I Used Condom– Lecturer

How dumb could this lecturer be? Impregnate a girl and you claim you used a condom like sleeping with a student is not enough a crime already, SMH!

For those interested in making movies, this could pass for a script;

A lecturer at the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu, Dr Oluseyi Adu, and a Dental Nursing student, Mosunmola, are embroiled in a row over who is responsible for the pregnancy that the nursing student is carrying.

Mosunmola, who is nine months pregnant, alleged that Adu was responsible for the child in her womb, adding that they had sex in a hotel sometime in August, 2016.

She said the lecturer beat her up last month when she confronted him at the college for avoiding her, adding that the case was already at the Ilese Police Station.

However, while Adu admitted to having sex with the 28-year-old, he insisted that he used contraceptive, saying the lady seduced him and he gave in to the temptation.

Mosunmola told our correspondent that she underwent a three-year course at the college, adding that several lecturers had asked her out before Adu, but she refused.

She said, “Dr Adu is the Oral Health Coordinator for the college. During my three years study, he taught me two courses each semester. I have never failed his course.

“When I got to second semester, 300 level, he awarded me 38 in one of his courses. I went to his office in August 2016 to know why I failed the course. I needed to pass all my courses to be able to go for my board exam.

“He asked me if I thought I could just come to the school and go like that. He said if I dated him, he would waive the course. He said he didn’t approach me in 100 level because another lecturer was interested in dating me.

“The lecturer he mentioned told me in 100 level that it was either I paid him money or used my body to pass his course. Because I didn’t agree, I failed his course. I didn’t pass it until I got to 300 level.

“I told Adu that I would date him, but I didn’t want to have any problem, and he assured me that there would be no regret.”

The victim said the lecturer took her to the office of the Head of Department and after some discussions, it was agreed that she could sit for the board exam.

After the board exam at POGIL College of Health Technology, Oke-Eri, Ijebu Ode, on August 21, Adu, who was among those on the panel, was said to have given Mosunmola some of his practical instruments and a laptop for safekeeping.

However, Mosunmola said when the school bus arrived to take the students back to the school, she forgot to give the practical instruments back to the lecturer.

She said Adu later called and asked her to bring the instruments to a hotel where he lodged.

“I was preparing to leave when he called me back that I would be sleeping over with him.

“I met him with another lecturer in my department. I observed that the lecturer also had a female student with him.  From the hotel, we went to different places before we finally lodged in another hotel along Ilese Road. While I was with Adu in a room, my other classmate passed the night with the second lecturer in another room.

“We had three rounds of sex. He didn’t release on time. He used two condoms for the first two rounds. The third round was, however, flesh-to-flesh. That was when he ejaculated inside me,” she explained.

She said the lecturer dropped her off at home and they continued their relationship, until she stopped seeing her menstruation a few weeks later.

The Ogun State indigene said she became worried after she started vomiting, adding that she took a pregnancy test, which was positive.

She said when Adu heard the news, he reluctantly accepted responsibility, but allegedly gave her a drug, Eprostol, to abort the pregnancy.

She said, “I refused to take the drug because the prescription was not from a medical doctor. He came down to my place to persuade me to take the drug, but I still refused. He asked me what I wanted and I told him that I needed to change my accommodation because the pregnancy was a shameful thing for me. He told me not to worry, that he would handle it. After that, we had sex.

“When he left that day, I could not find my phone again. By the time I got another phone and called him, he started acting funny. Sometime, he would just laugh at me.”

Mosunmola said attempts by Adu’s HOD, dean, and provost to mediate were rebuffed by the lecturer.

The victim said she later approached the Human Rights Office of the Ogun State Ministry of Justice at Ijebu-Ode, where a lawyer, one Kolade, called the parties for a meeting.

Adu was reported to have agreed to pay N5,000 feeding allowance per month, in addition to paying N7,000 for ante-natal registration.

After paying the allowance for two months, Adu reportedly stopped.

The parties reportedly held another meeting in March at the human rights office to review the agreement.

Conflict was said to have broken out among the parties when Mosunmola presented a list of things required for her delivery, which she valued at N50,000.

Adu was said to have insisted on paying N30,000, which the 28-year-old refused.

“I didn’t have any accommodation and I couldn’t buy any of the drugs the doctors prescribed for me. I told him I would only manage the N50,000. He left in annoyance.

“Since March, the lawyer didn’t call us back and Adu refused to pay the N5,000 he used to give me every month. I called the lawyer late March and asked him to help me get the N30,000, but the lawyer said I should not call him again,” she said.

After reporting the lecturer to the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Health, where Adu also worked, without any result, Mosunmola said she became desperate and went to the college on April 13 when she knew Adu would be taking a class.

She said while pleading with him for money for her medical expenses, the lecturer assaulted her.

She said some people intervened and she reported a case of assault to the police at the Ilese division, Ijebu Ode.

“I am now in my 38 weeks and anytime soon, I will have my child. I am an orphan and I don’t have any of my baby items ready. I am begging Nigerians to come to my rescue. I know I have made a mistake, but I need a second chance at life. I don’t have anywhere to go. It is a church that is accommodating me now,” she said.

When our correspondent reached out to Adu to appeal to him to raise the N50,000 for the baby things, he said he had no money and would not borrow because Mosunmola had turned him to a “cash cow.”

He said he had already informed his wife about the incident, adding that there was nothing that could surprise him again as he had lost his credibility over the incident.

Adu said, “She was one of my students; but on a personal level, I never knew her until after they released her final results and she failed some courses, including mine.

“Her HOD asked her to come and ask me if I could waive the course for her. She called me on the phone and came to see me in the office. That was my first contact with this lady. When she made her request, I met her HOD who said I should assist her. He said even if I did, she might not sit for the board exam because of the other courses she failed. So, I passed her.

“When they sat for the board exam, I was surprised to see her and I asked her HOD why she wrote the exam when she had other courses she failed. He said people begged for her.

“After the board exam, she came to thank me for the assistance and she asked to carry my bag and the instruments I used to conduct the exam. By the time she was leaving, I collected my bag from her, but I forgot my instruments with her.

“That day, I went to hang out with my friend at the pool of a hotel where we lodged. Suddenly, I remembered my instruments and I called her to keep them well. But she said she could come to where I was and she came. After dropping the instruments, she didn’t leave as I expected and I decided not to bother her.

“We were together at the hotel till evening.  One thing led to the other. My brother, she slept in my room that night and we had (sexual) intercourse. This was a girl I never dated or had any relationship with.”

He said by weekend, Mosunmola called him that she was pregnant, adding that she later said she was only joking about it and wanted to see his reaction.

Adu said the call made him to stop communicating with Mosunmola and he did not respond anytime she called, until she sent him a text message saying the pregnancy had become real.

He said, “I decided to travel down to Ijebu to see her. She brought out the test result and said I was responsible. I told her I used a condom and she couldn’t tell me that my condom burst. She said if I was afraid because I was married, I should not bother because the pregnancy actually belonged to her boyfriend and she merely wanted to see my reaction. I warned her and left.

“The next time she called me, she said how would she take my pregnancy to her boyfriend, and that I should take responsibility for it. She said she would abort the pregnancy if I wanted her to, but I must rent a house for her in Ijebu Ode and then she described the kind of house she wanted.

“When I heard that, I told her to do her worst, because it was obvious to me that she just wanted to blackmail me. She had been going round different places, telling people that I impregnated her. The question I ask is, did I rape her? Did I hypnotise her?  You came to meet me where I was and we had fun, and now you are pregnant, and you are telling me I am responsible for a pregnancy I am denying?”

He said before Mosunmola could reach his wife, he quickly reported himself to her and begged for her forgiveness.

The medical practitioner said he reluctantly agreed to pay the N5,000 after much persuasion by the human rights lawyer, adding that he regretted the agreement because Mosunmola used it to make more demands on him.

“When she brought the list for the baby things, I asked her, ‘Why are you making me as if I am the father of your baby? Am I your husband?

“She suddenly flared up and said I should even go away that she didn’t want anything from me again. She cursed me and after that encounter, I decided to stop giving her anything,” he added.

He said Mosunmola came to attack him during the lecture. He said she was about stripping him naked when he forcefully detached himself from her.

Adu explained that the case of assault against him at the Ilese division had been thrown out after he told the police the student was the aggressor.

“People impregnate people and nothing happens. Why is she treating me as if I had done something criminal?

“The worst that will happen now is for me to die. I am not a young man; if I die, people will cry and I will be done.

“But I also ask myself, what if the pregnancy is mine? My prayer now is for her to deliver safely and we will determine the paternity of the child,” he said.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said he would get back to our corrrespondent after speaking with the Ilese DPO.

He had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.

JAMB Denies Score Reductions In 2017 Exercise

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied the rumour concerning the deduction of candidates' marks in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Head of JAMB Information and Media, denied the reports in a statement in Abuja advised candidates to disregard the rumour.

According to Benjamin, the rumour is false, devilish and a ploy to cause disaffection among candidates who participated in the 2017 UTME.

“It is no longer news that all our centres have CCTV camera and we have watched all proceedings at the Computer Based Test (CBT) centres across the nation.

“Those involved in any infraction will be sanctioned in accordance with the provision of the Examination Malpractice Act.
“The board has not deducted any marks from any candidate and is not contemplating doing that as it is not a condition for sanction in any of the provisions of the law against malpractice.

“Again, we call on all candidates to be mindful of fraudulent characters who will send misleading information to create panic and take advantage of the situation to defraud them”.

He advised candidates to login to check the result with their registration number or with email address and urged candidates with any challenge not to hesitate to contact the board or check the organisation’s Website for detailed information and numbers for enquiries.

JAMB Releases 1M Results As Well As Extend Registration

The Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, yesterday in Lagos said that out of the 1,648,429 million candidates writing the ongoing UTME, the results of 1,048,914 have been released.

This was just as he also announced the extension of JAMB’s portal for registration, adding that it will finally close its registration portal on 28th May.

He said that in addition to the 1,048,914 results that have been released, over 30,406 results are also ready for upload before midnight today.

He said: “As at today, 1,648, 429 are taking our examination and we have released the result of 1,048,914. That is the result we have released up till yesterday.

“On the first day, we released the results of Sunday because anything you call CBT, the results are ready, but for environmental reasons, we do not release the results immediately.

“That is to ensure we go through the CCTV camera to see whether there are report of malpractice and prevent the situation whereby those who do not pass become agitated at the CBT centres.

“We have released the results of Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and we are going to release today’s result before 12 midnight. This morning, the results of 30,046 will be release.

Asked the performances of candidates results so far, he said: “The candidates have not done badly from the results released so far.” As soon as the last person finished writing the last paper today, we will upload additional over 30,406 results before 12 midnight today.”

Oloyede, also disclosed that JAMB’s portal for registration has not closed, adding that it will finally close its registration portal on 28th May. He said that he got the mandate from the Senate few weeks ago to increase the UTME registration period by one month, which according to him will elapse on 28th of May. “As I speak, we have registered additional 1,100 candidates,” he added.

Oloyede who disclosed during this during his visit to one of the CBT Centres in Lagos said that in 2018, fingers print may no longer be required.

He explained: We have now been able to catch those people who registered two people with the same names. The impersonator and the one being impersonated went in collaboration with the CBT centres after screening them.”

He said: “Both the impersonator and one being impersonated used each fingers.

While, the impersonator used two thumb fingers, the impersonated used eight fingers to register.

Thus, we have ten registered fingers and the ten fingers were not from one person.

“In some centres, when we tested all their fingers, we discovered that they were impersonator who had used two of their fingers thumbs in both hands.

“By next year, we may not use finger print, there are other technologies whereby with the technology, everything about the candidate is captured. We need to move in that direction.”

Carson Huey-You received his degree majoring in physics and minoring in maths and Chinese on Saturday, May 13. Despite his incredible achievement, Carson is hesitant to accept the label of genius, insisting that he's just a "normal dude."

The 14-year-old boy has become the youngest student to graduate from Texas Christian University in the US.

Well, his modesty can't be faulted but one thing is certain—only a genius of sorts would get a college degree in physics at the age of 14.
