Cyriel Dessers ready to dump Belgium for Super Eagles

‎FC‎ Utrecht’s new signing, Cyriel Dessers, has expressed his willingness to pledge his international allegiance to Nigeria ahead of Belgium.

Dessers scored 29 goals and provided 13 assists last season for NAC Breda, to help them win promotion to the topflight, before leaving for Utrecht.

His impressive season has led to a tug of war between Nigeria and Belgium.

Dessers qualifies for both countries, thanks to his Nigerian mother Sophie and Flemish father, Herwig.

Although the 22-year-old trained with Belgium’s U-21s in 2015, he never got to make his debut as he was an unused substitute in their match against Moldova in the qualifiers for Euro 2015.

“For now my concentration is on my new club FC Utrecht but if anything comes from the coach of Nigeria it would be nice. I have to be realistic, the competition in Belgium is very large with Romelu Lukaku, Micthy Bastshuayi, Divock Origi, Christian Benteke and now Dimata,” he said.

“They are still very young, around same age as me. In Nigeria, there are top strikers as well but maybe there will be a spot for me in the team than in Belgium.”

Mayweather V Conor Mcgregor Fight Finalised For August 26

Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight finalized for Aug. 26

Unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather will fight UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a much-discussed boxing match on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas.

According to UFC president Dana White, the fight will be at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be contested at 154 pounds. It will be a standard, 12-round boxing match with 10-ounce gloves.

It is a stunning development given that Mayweather, the greatest boxer of his era, had said he was retired after compiling a 49-0 pro record from 1996 through 2015. But with a fight which could pay each man in excess of $100 million, he reconsidered.

McGregor is one of the elite mixed martial arts fighters in the world, but has never boxed before, either amateur or pro.

Mayweather goes in the bookies favourite.

Tiote’s Agent Calls For End To Speculation Over Death

The agent of the late Ivory Coast midfielder Cheick Tiote on Wednesday called for the media to cease making unsubstantiated claims about the reasons for his death.

The 52-time capped star — a member of the Ivory Coast squad that ended a 23-year drought in winning the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations — died after fainting during training with second division side Beijing Enterprises on June 5. He was 30 years of age.

His death shocked the football world, reverberating in England, where he played for seven years at Newcastle United before joining the Beijing team in February.

However, with his body being flown home to the Ivory Coast — after an emotional farewell held at a funeral home in China on Tuesday — Emanuele Palladino issued a statement to Press Association Sport calling on the speculation over why he died to end out of sympathy for his family’s feelings.

“There is increasing speculation regarding the circumstances and reasons behind Cheick Tiote’s death with many inaccuracies being printed in the press on this subject,” Palladino said.

Cristiano Ronaldo Welcomes The Birth Of Twins With Surrogate Mother

Cristiano Ronaldo Welcomes The Birth Of Twins With Surrogate Mother

Cristiano Ronaldo has become the father of surrogate twins, according to a report.

Portuguese TV station SIC claims that the children, named Eva and Mateo, were born on Thursday – a day before the Portugal international netted twice in the 3-0 win over Latvia.

British national The Sun reported in March that Ronaldo, already the father of six-year-old Cristiano Jr, was to become a father of twins to a surrogate based in the United States.

No official confirmation has yet been given but the Portuguese is said to have become a dad for the second and third time earlier this week.

Ronaldo, the scorer of 53 goals in 51 games for club and country this season, is currently dating Spanish model Georgina Rodriguez.

Cristiano’s family has always refused to discuss whether his son was born to a surrogate mother, despite claims by a former nanny that the footballer’s sister Katia had told her he had two Mexican mums.

Carer Maria Manuela Rodriguez, who worked at Katia’s house in Moita near Lisbon for 10 months, told leading Portuguese tabloid Correio da Manha in August 2011: ‘Once I saw a newspaper article saying the child’s mother wanted him back.’

Katia said: ‘That’s a lie, because the mum is Mexican and she didn’t even see if it was a boy or a girl, because she was a surrogate mum” adding that she told her Cristianinho was the “child of two mums.”‘

‘She even told me the child had two mums, that the eggs were from one and another carried and gave birth to the child. And that both were Mexican.

‘The child was born in a private clinic and the mother didn’t even see him, because she was covered up. The baby was born and she doesn’t know anything about him.’

The Real Madrid striker took legal action over the article, claiming the newspaper had intruded into his private life.

A court in Lisbon ruled in favour of the footballer and fined a newspaper exec, the former nanny and the two journalists who wrote the story.

An appeal against the decision is understood to be ongoing.
Nigeria Vs South Africa : A Must Win For Super Eagles

Nigeria Vs South Africa : A Must Win For Super Eagles

The last time the two teams met, both teams played out a highly entertaining 2-2 draw in a must win 2015 AFCON Qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, a game which ensured the Super Eagles missing out of the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea with the South Africans progressing alongside Congo from the group.

Bafana Bafana striker, Tokelo Rantie scored a brace on that night before Sone Aluko got his own double to deny the visitors their first competitive win against the host. Nigeria likewise misses out on the 2017 AFCON in Gabon with Chad pulling out of the qualifiers which meant only one team could qualify out of the group. Egypt picked up the sole ticket of the group having drawn with the Super Eagles in Kaduna and then a 1-0 home win in Egypt which ensures the Super Eagles missing out on two consecutive Afcon finals.

There were lots of experienced players in the team, many veterans including 2013 AFCON top scorer Emenike, Ighalo, Ideye, Enyeama, but the Super Eagles had lost their fear factor, with countries like Sudan and Congo inspired by Biofuma indeed defeated Nigeria, with the latter achieving the feat in Kaduna.

Ghanain Footballer, Kwame Bonsu Jailed For Raping And Assaulting His Wife

Ghanain Footballer, Kwame Bonsu Jailed For Raping And Assaulting His Wife

A Swedish court have handed a Ghanaian football player in Gävle, Sweden, a two year jail sentence for raping and assaulting his wife.

The Gävle District Court also disclosed that 22-year-old Kwame Bonsu, who plays for Gefle IF club, will be expelled from the Scandinavian country where he has lived since 2013.

His club Gefle on Friday also said Bonsu was dismissed from the team with immediate effect. According to court documents seen by The Local he will also have to pay 122,600 kronor ($14,000) in compensation to his wife, who is a Swedish national. He first met her in 2014 when he was playing in the southern Swedish city of Mjölby.

They married the following year. A few months after the wedding he signed a transfer to the town of Gävle, located about 300 kilometres away from Mjölby. Bonsu's wife had wanted him to stay to continue his studies.

The victim said the rape and beatings took place in the couple's apartment during an evening in November 2015 when he had refused to let her out. Bonsu repeatedly denied the charges, but testimony from his wife's relatives led the court to believe the victim's version of events. His lawyer has appealed the sentence.
