"Shut Up Or I Expose Your Wife", Amaechi Threatens Wike

"Shut Up Or I Expose Your Wife", Amaechi Threatens Wike

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Tuesday verbally attacked his successor, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, and threatened to expose the governor’s wife “if he (Wike) does not shut up his mouth.”

Amaechi, who was visibly angry at the allegation levelled against his wife by the Rivers governor, also described his successor as a thug who could hardly speak good English.

On Monday, Wike alleged that each commissioner and local government chairman in Rivers State paid the erstwhile governor’s wife, Judith, N3m and N2m monthly, respectively.

But when asked to react to this while speaking on the sidelines of an inspection programme at the Kaduna Dry Port, Amaechi replied, “By accident of Goodluck Jonathan, I don’t want to attribute it to God, but by the accident of Jonathan, the man takes office and talks rubbish. My wife and family, including my younger brothers and sisters, no one had access to government when I was governor.

“Even as minister, nobody will have such because it is not a family business. It is government business. But the problem with Nyesom Wike, and I want you to state this if he doesn’t shut up his mouth and do his work I will bring his wife to the focus. You see I’ve been very matured not to talk about his wife.

“But if Wike does not close his mouth and talk about my wife anymore, I will bring out his wife. My wife will never do such, we don’t do family business. I care about transparency. My wife is a trader. She buys and sells and Wike knows that.”

When asked why he was also accused of squandering over N30bn belonging to Rivers State, Amaechi said, “And you believe that? The man who says he has about $50m in Lagos and could no prove it is the same man you believe. The man who said I didn’t pay salaries until I left office and now he is saying no, it is pensioners that I didn’t pay. Do you believe such a man?

“Do you think such a man is well? You believe Nyesom Wike is well? First, he doesn’t know how to speak English, he is poorly dressed, he is a thug, and you bring me to focus with that kind of a man?”

On the decision of the Rivers government to handle some of the issues levelled against him in court, the transportation minister declared that his team was not given fair hearing by the panel set up in the state.
Amaechi said, “Which court, okay let him go to court. He has no fact and he maligns people’s character. The process is that you set up a tribunal, but we’ve questioned the tribunal, we were not given a fair hearing.
“Again, how do you know how the court came to its decision? We were not even informed. There is a panel of justices in Rivers State, which is the Court of Appeal. But by the time we knew it, they took away that matter from them and gave it to a panel that came from Adamawa.”

Kidnapped Olumide Odimayo Found Dead In Ondo

Kidnapped Olumide Odimayo Found Dead In Ondo

Olumide Odimayo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state who was kidnapped last week Thursday has been found dead, local vigilantes has told SaharaReporters.

The corpse of Mr. Odimayo was found near Ogolo River, between Sabomi and Igbotu in Ese Odo Local Government Area of the state.

Unknown gunmen had last week Thursday abducted Mr. Odimayo popularly called “Londoner” at his home in  Igbotu community.

SaharaReporters had reported how the armed hoodlums entered the community through the bush, shot into the air and whisked away the APC chieftain.

A source who confirmed the sad news to SaharaReporters on Monday disclosed that the corpse of the deceased was found by members of the local vigilante group that constituted a search party.

The source stated that the people of the local community were thrown into shock immediately the news of the tragedy filtered into Igbotu from the vigilante group.

According to the source, members of the local vigilante group have also arrested two persons suspected to be in connection with the kidnap of the late All Progressives Congress  (APC) chieftain.

“A few moments ago the death of the victim (Odimayo) was announced to us by a member of the local vigilantes who was also part of the rescue team.

“The vigilante said his corpse was found in Ogolo River which is very close to Sabomi and Igbotu in Ese Odo area.

“It is unfortunate that we, the youths could not rescue Odimayo alive despite our efforts to locate the kidnappers' den. Currently, we are mourning his painful death” the source added.

Also, a youth from the community who was angered by the tragic incident blamed security agencies particularly the marine police for the failed rescue of the victim.

“If the security agencies mostly the marine police in the area had put more energy in the search of the kidnapped victim and work with local vigilante group, maybe he would have been rescued alive.

“The victim (Odimayo) arrived from London not too long ago before he was kidnapped. He is not too familiar with the terrain of the water, he might have died as a result of the stress during his abduction”.

Femi Joseph, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State Command could not immediately be reached for his reaction.

Reacting, the All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesman in the Ondo state, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, expressed shock at the tragic death of Odimayo.

“The tragic death of Mr. Olumide Odimayo is a rude shock to us in the party because this is someone who came from London and started the struggle with us.

“I can’t get myself as I am speaking with you. Although, our party members have been sending their condolences to his family but his death is very painful to us all” he said.
Hate Speeches: DSS Warns Arewa Youths, N’delta Militants, Others

Hate Speeches: DSS Warns Arewa Youths, N’delta Militants, Others

The Department of State Services has warned groups including northern youths and the Niger Delta militants against hate speeches.

The DSS, which stated this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Mr. Tony Opuiyo, in Abuja on Sunday, said it had observed how some Nigerians had been preaching hate in the last few weeks.

The DSS spokesperson described the trend as disturbing and warned those he called desperate and mischievous elements, to stop in their attempt to steer the ship of Nigeria to calamity and irretrievable destruction.

He also warned all those it said were charting the course of disunity among Nigerians to desist from their divisive actions.

Recently, a coalition of some Arewa youth groups had in a press statement called for the relocation of the Igbo from the North.

More than 10 days after the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, ordered their arrest, none of the security agencies had made attempt at apprehending them.

But Opuiyo regretted that the action of the Arewa youths had been followed by a release from an unknown source styled, the Niger Delta Watchdogs, threatening all northerners to quit the Niger-Delta region as well.

He said that another group went to the extent of harvesting from the Internet, a horrific accident scene, for the purpose of making it look like a site of massacre of Igbo by northern youths.

He, however, said that the “service has been able to establish that the purported murder scene being depicted as a field of massacre was a high casualty accident scene which occurred along the Owo-Akure Road, Ondo State, on March 3, 2016.

“Those involved in these misleading and despicable acts have since been warned to desist from anything capable of causing disaffection and stoking nationwide tensions.”

Consequently, he said that the service, in line with its statutory mandate of ensuring the internal security of the country, would stop at nothing to deploy all resources at its disposal to identify and deal with all those culpable, as well as maintain peace and order in the country.

“To this effect, all those who are charting the course of disunity among Nigerians must desist from their divisive actions,” he warned.

He added, “The service is also not oblivious of the efforts of some miscreants to ignite fear and cause ethnic tensions across the country.

“It strongly condemns in its entirety the call for relocation of anyone to places against their wishes. Such relocation order is not only illegal, but it is strongly viewed to be against the spirit of our constitution which allows for freedom of movement and association among others.”

Opuiyo said that the DSS also frowned on the tendency which he said some ethnic chauvinists easily and cheaply resort to in order to achieve their devilish aims.

For example, he said some of them resort to hate speeches, misinformation and total manipulation of information especially on the social media to fan the embers of discord and subvert the efforts of government in implementing its policies for the good of everyone.

He called on well-meaning and law-abiding citizens and residents to disregard persuasions by those he described as ethnic jingoists to make the country a theatre of the absurd and bloodletting.

Rather, he said it was time for Nigerians to show their humanity and patriotism which he said had been their defining strength as one united indivisible nation.

He added that the service had “already commenced investigation to get the perpetrators of these hate campaigners as well as their sponsors.

“At the appropriate time all those involved in these condemnable acts will be unmasked and decisively dealt with in line with the laws of the land.”

He added that the service “would not leave any stone unturned to ensure that those who are bent on causing a breakdown of law and order are not spared.”

The DSS spokesperson called on anyone with useful information on how to get those behind the hate speeches to volunteer same to the “service or the nearest security agency/formation for prompt action.”

The state’s Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi, told newsmen that the initiative was crucial for planning purposes.

He spoke shortly after he was registered for the card at the North West Zonal Office of the National Identity Card Management Commission (NIMC) in Kaduna.

He said: “Kaduna State Government is currently providing a number of free social services for the people in the state.

“But to achieve the desired impact, we need to have the accurate figure of those residing in the state. We need to know who and who resides in our state and where.

He said people would soon be required to present their residency card before they could access such services.

“Kaduna state is open for everyone due to its strategic location, geographically, economically and politically.

“But if you are going to stay in the state beyond 180 days, you would be required to register and obtain our residency card.

“This is very important not only in planning, but also in ensuring security. We gathered that most of the security issues we are having in the state are cause by people from other states,” he said.

The commissioner explained that the registration exercise was being carried out in partnership with NIMC and open to all residents of all ages.

He appealed to everyone to come out en mass and get registered in the more than 31 centres across the state.

The NIMC North West Zonal Director, Mr. Oyesola Taiwo, explained that registration for the residency card was linked with the NIMC data base.

“The process is very easy, if you already have the national identification number, all you need to do is just to present the number and you will be captured immediately.

“In a situation that you do not have, the first step is to register for the national identification number, after, you will be captured for the state residency card, “he added.

He enjoined all residents in the state to support the government in meeting their needs by coming out with their families, friends and relations to register.

Ademola Adeleke Defects To PDP Ahead Of APC Primary

Ademola Adeleke Defects To PDP Ahead Of APC Primary

An All Progressives Congress aspirant in the Osun-West senatorial district, Chief Ademola Adeleke, may have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party to contest the July 8 senatorial by-election.

A chieftain of the PDP, who pleaded anonymity, said this while speaking with our correspondent on the telephone, on Tuesday.

The PDP chieftain said Adeleke would contest on the platform of the opposition party.

He said, “We have been talking to our leaders and members on this. We want to win this election and we know that he is popular. Adeleke will contest on the platform of the PDP.

“The APC has decided to clear Mudashiru Hussain despite his disqualification and the Adeleke group is aware that the APC primary would be manipulated to favour Hussain.”

One of the supporters of Adeleke, who pleaded not to be named, confirmed this to our correspondent on the telephone.

He, however, said the camp was waiting for the PDP to break the news.

Adeleke could not be reached as calls placed to his telephone indicated that the line had been switched off.

His media aide, Mr. Olumide Lawal, did not pick the call placed to his telephone to confirm or deny the insinuation.

But the Chairman of the PDP in Osun State, Soji Adagunodo, confirmed the defection of Adeleke to the PDP via a text message to our correspondent.
Jonathan Did Nothing For Igbos – Amaechi Explodes

Jonathan Did Nothing For Igbos – Amaechi Explodes

Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, on Tuesday stated that Igbos benefitted nothing from former president, Goodluck Jonathan, even though they massively supported him in 2011.

Amaechi added that those who served under Jonathan from the South-east region should be ashamed of themselves because “they were seeing the president five times in a day” but could not get key roads constructed.

“The Igbos gave Jonathan support, what did he do? Of course! Nothing!”, he said in Lagos at a Forum.
“President Jonathan went to Onitsha and danced and promised to construct Onitsha bridge. Right? After that nothing happened.

“Now we are fixing the bridge without making promise. Or did we promise to construct Onitsha bridge? I didn’t hear him (President Buhari) say he would construct Onitsha bridge during the campaign, except someone spoke on his behalf.

“Today we are constructing the second bridge, which is the River Niger bridge, The relevance of a politician is not determined by how much he has in his pocket. It is determined by how much development he is able to bring.

“The Port Harcourt-Owerri road was terrible. One day I made the mistake as governor to try to go to Owerri and I passed through Aba. I wept. Now we are constructing that road; it may not be at the speed that you want but we are constructing the road. The next road I mentioned is the Enugu-Onitsha.

“We are doing Port Harcourt-Enugu, the most important road to the Igbo. The next most important road to the Igbo is Enugu to Onitsha, and he (Buhari) is doing it again. So who is better?

“The last man you people were dancing with at Onitsha bridge that promised you people that ‘Azikiwe commissioned this bridge and the second Azikiwe commissioned it again’ never put a stone.
“But the man who doesn’t talk at all; who didn’t make promise and he is doing it, which one do you prefer? Don’t be deceived by those who depended on government alone for survival.”

On internal squabbles in the APC, Amaechi said it was expected as the ruling party had huge number of members across states.
$1.1bn Malabu Scam: Adoke, Others Face Extradition

$1.1bn Malabu Scam: Adoke, Others Face Extradition

The Federal Government is making all necessary arrangements to extradite to Nigeria, former Attorney -General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, to face charges of fraud.

Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , Mr Johnson Ojogbane, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja.

The EFCC charged Adoke and two multinational oil companies to court on charges of alleged 1.1 billion dollars Malabu Oil scam.

On the last adjourned date , the judge, Justice John Tsoho , fixed June 13 , for arraignment of Adoke and the other co -defendants.

Ojogbane, however, told the News Agency of Nigeria, that the matter could not proceed because the EFCC had been unable to get Adoke and other defendants.

“ The matter was adjourned until today for arraignment of the defendants, but up till now , we have not been able to secure the attendance of most of the defendants, because they are outside the country.

“ The Federal Government is doing everything within its powers to bring them back to Nigeria so that they can face their trial.

“ The government will take steps, in collaboration with the international police to locate them and bring them back to Nigeria through extradition , which is a very cumbersome process, but it will be done, ” Ojogbane said.

He said the court adjourned the matter until Oct. 26 after the court’ s vacation to enable the process of bringing Adoke and others back to Nigeria to be intensified.

The EFCC had in December 2016, charged nine suspects, including Adoke, over the purchase of OPL 245 .

Adoke was accused of illegally transferring more than $800 million purportedly meant for the purchase of the OPL 245 to Dan Etete, Malabu Oil.

The Federal Government had also on March 2, filed fresh charges against Shell Nigeria Exploration Production Company Limited and Agip Nigeria Exploration Limited for alleged complicity in the Malabu $1.1 billion scandal.

Adoke , Etete , Aliyu Abubakar , ENI Spa , Ralph Wetzels, Casula Roberto, Pujatti Stefeno , Burrafati Sebestiano and Malabu Oil and Gas were charged alongside the two multinational oil companies .
