Tension Is High, Amoo Tells Shooting Stars

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) Head Coach, Fatai Amoo, has warned his lads that any further poor result in the top-flight would lead the club to relegation. The Oluyole Warriors are hosts of South West neighbours, Sunshine Stars in today’s Match Day 22 clash, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Amoo said intense tension is brewing in the Ibadan warlords’ camp and only a good result against the Owena Waves would help douse the uncomfortable situation. “The tension is high for obvious reasons and we have been doing a lot of psychological work primarily aimed at psyching the players to believe in themselves,” Amoo, a former coach of Sunshine Stars told supersport.com.

“Of course, at the point we are at the moment, anything short of outright win against Sunshine Stars is simply a calamity and a confirmation of relegation,” the gaffer stated.

“We forbid any of such untoward thing happening to us, I think we need determination – the type that saw Arsenal overcome champions Chelsea in the FA Cup final,” said the ex-international.

“Self-motivation is the main key that will help us come out of the wood to once again command respect among our peers, Amoo said, adding, “We have done corrections after the shocking home loss to FC IfeanyiUbah, which was outright unexpected.

“We are yet to come out of the shock of the defeat or fathom an antidote, but we know never again would such result happen. “We are looking forward to a crunch clash against Sunshine Stars as the saying goes ‘once beaten twice shy.’ Sunshine Stars are still within their domain. It’s a South West derby and the visitors could be said to be playing at home,” said he.

The trainer insisted: “We must match them on all fronts to ensure we get the desired result as anything short of victory would spell doom for us.” The Ibadan landlords are 19th on the 20-team top-flight with 22 points, 17 behind league leaders Plateau United.
