The body of an assistant chief has been found at a guest house in Bondo sub-county. His body was discovered by workers at the guest house on Sunday evening.
David Obango Nyawade of Utonga sub-location is said to have spent Saturday night at the lodging.
According to South-West Sakwa Chief Peter Atego, Mr Obango - who has been ailing - booked a room at the guest house on Saturday evening. Mr Atego told The Standard that a woman who works at the lodging called him at around 7pm on Sunday to inform him of the incident.
"I was informed by a lady who works at the lodging that (Obango) took a shower in the morning but immediately began complaining of high fever before returning to his room where he is suspected to have collapsed and died," he said. The administrator said he called the police who took the body of the 47-year-old to Bondo hospital mortuary.
Bondo Deputy County Commissioner Richard Ajwang confirmed the incident, saying his office was not aware of any illness that Obango may have been suffering from.
He termed the death of the father of seven unfortunate and untimely and asked Utonga residents to remain calm as police investigated the matter.
