The BET Awards, which will be held this year June 25 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, released the nominations Monday (May 15). Perhaps one of the biggest storylines of the evening will be the Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma beef.
Although Remy Ma recently claimed that the “dust has settled,” she will go up against the reigning champion for the title of Best Female Hip Hop Artist. Nicki Minaj has won the award every year since 2010. Before her run, the Terror Squad vet did lay claim to the title. Other women included in the category this year are Missy Elliott, Young M.A, and Cardi B.
Beyoncé leads all nominees with seven nods. Queen Bey is up for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and twice for Best Collaboration with Kendrick Lamar for “Freedom” and DJ Khaled’s “Shining” with her husband Jay Z. She’s also nominated for Video of the Year for “Sorry,” which gave her a nod for Video Director of the Year alongside Kahlil Joseph.
