A Magistrate, Mrs H. O Basiru with the Osun state Judiciary has sentenced a 27 year old man named Ibiyemi to three months in prison for refusing to appear in court after an arrest warrant was served to him between May and November.
The Charge Read that you Hammed Ibiyemi, on May 27, June 10, July 13, August 13, October 14 and November 16 2016, about 9am at the magistrate court, Osogbo, in Osogbo Magisterial District, did absent yourtself from court proceedings, being an accused in charge number, MOS/521c/2013.
C.O.P vs Hammed Ibiyemi and deliberately disrespected the court by not attending the court whenever your case was called. The accused Hammed Ibiyemi pleaded Guilty to the contempt charge against him.
However his counsel R.A Ngu, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy because the accused was a first time offender. He also said the accused has shown remorse, praying the court to give him an option of praying fine. The Magistrate said in her statement, ''I Revoke the convict bail application on his case, and he should be remanded in prison for three months or Pay N10,000 Fine Contempt.
