World number one and British tennis star Andy Murray and athlete Mo Farah have both been knighted in the Queen's New Year Honours list.
The latest development caps a wonderful year for 29-year old Murray, who has had a phenomenal 2016. His achievements include replacing Serbian Novak Djokovic as world number one in November, defending his Olympic singles title in Rio, winning a second Wimbledon crown amongst others.
Mo Farah on the other hand completed a 'double double' sweep in Rio as he won his fourth Olympic gold to become only the second man to retain the 5,000m and 10,000m titles. This marks another chapter to the 33-year old's story having moved to England from then war-torn Somalia at the age of eight.
