Woman Flogged By Husband Alongside Her Lover In India.

A shocking case of public flogging of a 45-year-old man and his 50-year-old lover has come to light in Kalediya village of Chhota Udepur district.

On Thursday, the local police lodged an FIR and arrested the woman's husband and his accomplice Shana Tadvi for flogging the couple on June 24. The woman also registered a complaint of rape against her lover.

According to the police, the man and the woman had fled to Saurashtra last month to start a new life. "But they were tracked down by their family members and brought back to their village near Bodeli. The community leaders had gathered to take decision on punishing the couple on June 24. The woman's husband, who was also present in the meeting, demanded Rs two lakh from the woman's lover for settling the case," said P C Baranda, Chhota Udepur's superintendent of police (SP).

"Instead of reaching compromise, a fight broke out during the meeting and the woman's husband began flogging her and the lover with the help of Shana. We learnt about it on Wednesday when the video of the incident went viral. The woman's husband and Shana have been arrested," Baranda said.

When asked about her lover, Baranda said that he too will be arrested as a complaint of rape has been registered against him. Sources said that Soma has fled to Bhavnagar.

Baranda said that the decision to flog the woman and her husband wasn't taken by the community leaders. While the lover is father of three kids, the woman is mother of four kids.
