A 30-year old Bricklayer identified as Jeopardy John has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by a Lugbe Grade One Court in Abuja for stealing two packets of Maggi cubes having pleaded guilty to the three-count charge of criminal trespass, housebreaking and theft.

The presiding judge, Mr. Garba Ogbede also gave the convict an option of paying N15,000 fine adding that the recovered items be returned to the owner. John was however unable to pay the fine and has been taken to Kuje Prison.

The prosecuting counsel Miss Vivian Oporomo had earlier told the court that on July 12, a certain Eneojo John reported the matter at the Iddo Police Station as she further stated that the convict broke into the complainant's shop at about 1:30am and stole two packets of Maggi cubes, valued N700 and one DVD player valued at N10,000 adding that the convict was caught by the shop owner with the said items before he raised an alarm.
