Men In Uniform: COAS Lt. Tukur Buratai, His Father And Son

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai's second son, Yusuf Tukur is a serving flying officer in the Nigerian Airforce. Alhaji Yusuf Buratai rtd, who is the father of the current COAS joined the West African Army in 1942, at the age of 18.

The older Buratai fought in the World War in 1945 before later joining the services of escorting ships from Lagos to Cotonou and Cape Town in Africa. From then he went to Mombasa, Kenya, and also later to Bombay in India from there he also joined a train to Lahore and was later redeployed to the jungle where he was trained in preparation for the war of Burma.
