The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have seized six properties worth N1.35bn allegedly owned by Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose by the help of public funds.
The duplexes include four in Lagos and two in Abuja. They were acquired for him by his associate Abiodun Agbele and sister Mrs. Moji Ladeji according to The Nation though the latter has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja laying claims to one of the Abuja duplexes.
According to sources, EFCC Operatives are of the belief that the properties were acquired with public funds including the N1.219bn slush fund handed over to Fayose by Minister of Defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), and bribe money from contractors. Part of the funds reportedly came from the N4.745bn paid into Obanikoro's company, Sylva Mcnamara by ONSA for the 2014 Ekiti governorship poll.
EFCC sources said the duplexes were bought with wired funds and they have been located and sealed as follows: 44, Osun Crescent acquired for N200m from Skye Bank Plc. and 32, Yedseram Street worth N270m bought from businessman Rabi Kundili in Maitama Crescent, Abuja; and houses 3,4,6 and 9 in Plot 100, Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island, Lagos acquired for N880m by Abiodun Agbele, the detained associate of the governor who is currently under investigation.
